Research Associate: Responsible Research and Innovation in Synthetic Biology

The University of Manchester seeks to appoint a Research Associate to work with the Responsible Research and Innovation Group that is embedded with the Manchester Synthetic Biology Research Centre (SYNBIOCHEM) at The University of Manchester. The PDRA will be housed at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research, Alliance Manchester Business School, under the supervision of Professor Philip Shapira. You will undertake research in three interrelated areas: (1) Practices for responsible research and innovation in synthetic biology (2) Real-time research and innovation assessment and (3) A research theme proposed by the Research Associate broadly within the domain of responsible research and innovation in the context of synthetic biology.

PhD Studentship – Life Cycle Assessment for Responsible Research and Innovation in Synthetic Biology

The Institute for Science and Society in the School of Sociology and Social Policy and the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham are pleased to invite applications for a 4-year fully-funded studentship with an interdisciplinary focus. The successful candidate will develop and apply a novel methodology for the prospective assessment of the broader environmental and social impacts of synthetic biology.
