Shaping the Toolkit: some highlights of the Brussels experts meeting

On 19 and 20 November in Brussels, the RRI Tools team presented a first beta version of the RRI Toolkit to experts and RRI projects coordinators for feedback.
After having been introduced to the project's main achievements and having been guided through the RRI Toolkit, a bit more than sixty participants gathered in small working groups to analyse and provide feedback on the toolkit from diverse angles, accessing it through via different entry points, during a first participatory session.
Then during a second participatory session, the attendees worked in groups on the following working scenarios:
- Setting research agendas in different contexts, moderated by the RRI Tools member King Baudouin Fondation
- Fostering structural change in research centres and universities, moderated by the RRI Tools member University College London
- Designing a project proposal aligned with the RRI principles, moderated by the RRI Tools members EuroScience and Athena Institute
- Innovating in a more sustainable and socially acceptable way, moderated by the RRI Tools member EBN
- Introducing RRI at formal and informal education, moderated by the RRI Tools members European Schoolnet, Ecsite and Experimentarium
- Co-creating community-based participatory research, moderated by the RRI Tools member Wila Bonn
Participants were ask to confront this scenario with the toolkit, putting the availables resources to the test.
The RRI Tools team is now incorporating the feedbacks collected at the meeting into the RRI Toolkit, to make it highly relevant and useful to its future users, when publicly released in January 2016.
