Postdoctoral researcher for a Horizon 2020 project “RRI Practice: Responsible Research and Innovation in Practice

The Science and Technology Policy Department at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a Horizon 2020 project on Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). The project will investigate the challenges and drivers to implementing RRI across European countries and beyond (Brazil, India, Chine Japan), focusing on research funding bodies and research institutions. The hired candidate will work on the Brazil Work Package, under direct supervision of Dr. Marko Monteiro and joint supervision by Professor Phil Macnaghten (Wageningen University, The Netherlands), a partner in the project and consultant to the Brazilian Work Package. The Brazilian portion will investigate FAPESP – São Paulo Research Foundation and UNICAMP, conducting interviews and analysing RRI related discourses and practices in order to understand the specific contextual challenges and pathways to implementing RRI and making it tractable in the Brazilian context. RRI is here understood as an approach that anticipates potential implications and societal expectations with regard to research and innovation, with the aim to foster the design of inclusive and sustainable research and innovation.

PhD Studentship – Life Cycle Assessment for Responsible Research and Innovation in Synthetic Biology

The School of Sociology and Social Policy and the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham are pleased to invite applications for a 4-year fully-funded studentship with a cross-disciplinary focus. The successful candidate will develop and apply a novel methodology for the prospective assessment of the broader environmental and social impacts of synthetic biology.
